Jörg Galka-Teisseyre spent his childhood and youth in the German city of Paderborn, where he was born on 16 AUG 1962.

At the age of nineteen he moved to Le Mans, France,  and later spent a year in London, UK, too. In 1990 he and his partner for many years then moved to Strasbourg, France, and later in 2005 back to Germany where he now lives in the southwest German city of Kehl on the Rhine.

Since his early years he is fascinated by decorating his as well as other people’s homes combining colours and special paintbrush techniques in a rather unusual and very personal way.

In 2013 he eventually combined his longterm decorating experience with contemporary abstract acrylic painting after having spent a three-months‘ therapy in a Black Forest mental clinic because of a longtime depression.

Learning how to master life’s difficulties by getting to know himself and his „Neighbour“, the time spent in therapy also opened up a kind of artistic Pandora’s Box in his life ; indeed it provoked a sort of Sturm-and-Stress period ever since in creating.

In his artwork he widely uses various objects and material such as gems, sequins, wood, metal, glass, glitter, nail enamel, paper, plastic, rust, drawstrings, gold, silver and copper foil, concrete, resin etc. which he collects or brings back from his flight destinations inspiring him to create his unique artwork.

As one of the latest examples since 2015 are some of his paper works. Jörg Galka-Teisseyre uses various folding techniques – the more traditional Japanese style Origami fold as well as a much more contemporary and architectural way of paper folding. He uses both techniques to create either a stand-alone work of art or to integrate the folded object into his paintings.

Also in late 2015 he began using watercolours in his works, partially combined with other media to create some intriguing results.

Early 2016 he created some very unique flyers showing – in a three-dimensional and more handy way – what he does on canvas.

In May 2016 art works| by jörg galka-teisseyre was offered the opportunity to expose his work in a rather unusual context – for three months fifty odd paintings have been exposed at By Style Hairdressers in Kehl on the Rhine as well as in Offenburg, Germany.

This year art works|  by jörg galka-teisseyre was presenting twelve of his most recent works during the Ist International Contemporary Art Fair of Málaga, Spain, which was held from June 30 to July 2 at the Trade Fairs And Congress Centre of Málaga bringing together more than 500 artists and 40 galleries occupying 7000 square meters of the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos.

One of his exposed art works was created after a flight to Hong Kong last January, arriving on the first day of the Chinese New Year – the Year of the Rooster. Loving to provoke from time to time, the artist gave it the name of THE YEAR OF THE COCK …

The latest work finished shortly before the ART FAIR MÁLAGA has been named SOUVENIR DE CHINE – TI’AN AN MEN SQUARE in memory of the summer 1989 massaker … black chop sticks representing the violence of the Chinese Armed Forces repressing the student’s revolt on Ti’an An Men Square – Square of Heavenly Peace – depicted by a metal cross, black feathers and clippings of a Chinese Calligraphy textbook.

Many works reflect the artist’s reaction to everyday’s global news such as the terror attacks and assassintions of hostages by ISIS and their followers (BROKEN COMPASSION The Killings of innocent people, even children ! or JE SUIS CHARLIE The January 2015 Terrorist Attacks of the Charlie Hebdo Journalists in Paris).

The Germanwings flight suicidal crash in the French Alps in March 2015 marked him personally as he used to fly on board the same aircraft only months before this tragedy; it lead to the creation of AND ONLY SCARS REMAIN … a couple days later in memory of all these innocent victims.
